    Hi,

The first time I tried to create water using 3ds max Fluids, unfortunately, I failed to make V-Ray render the foam, anyone using 3ds max fluids here, hoping to get some guidance on rendering the foam.

At the moment we can only render them as spheres with Vray, so just make a multi-sub material and the liquid is id 1 and the foam is id 2

Just curious, did you ever manage to create convincing foam on water surface without using third party plugins? I made some experiments with very complex falloffs, flakes and displacement, but it just won't look right.

Out of interest, why not just use PHX foam if you're using Vray anyway?

It's an additional license, no? I couldn't justify the 350€/year before my employer for a plugin that would be of little to no use in our projects.

PHX itself is, yes, but the ocean texture and foam is available freely, although you'd need to at least
need to install a trial. At least that is how it used to work

Oh, I wasn't aware of that! Thank you for the hint. If that foam texture works, I could use that for small water surfaces in the future. Ponds, fountains and whatnot.

Hmm...not sure it'd stand scrutiny at a small scale tbh...works well enough on oceans though.
                  Worth a try though

Depends on how that foam works out exactly, right now I am overwhelmed with settings. But the 30 days will be enough to recreate that stormy sea scene they have in the tutorials, I guess I will learn about the foam material in there.
What happens after the trial period, I get to keep the ocean tex and the foam options but the particle simulations will become unusable?

Yeah you'll still have the ocean and foam textures afterwards.
It's a simple setup, laid out in the docs for reference.
