  • ALab USD scene

This is not yet in official builds of V-Ray for 3ds Max yet, but it is something we are working on - the ability to bring in USD files through the VRayScene node. Here is an example of the ALab scene from Animal Logic.

    Nice!
How would this implementation via vrscene node differ, or be better than Max's own native USD that they are working on?
    Kind Regards,

The goal is to be able to render exactly the USD files with V-Ray data that are exported from Houdini and Maya, including materials, hair, particles, instances etc. Right now it is not clear yet to what extent Max's own native tools will allow us to do that.

Awesome! So as I understand, now we can render USD only in Maya, and this feature coming soon to 3ds Max 2022. Right? The question is - when? =) Can't wait to test this.
