  • CARPARK wip

Enclosed light tester and render for reference.

Been having some fun ( ) with using IES data as specified by the client.
They want an accurate simulation, with no post-processing.

    - I have 41 photometric lights and the IES data is quite slow as far as IES's can go!. I have still managed to achieve sub 3hr render times @3000x2000 by using IRmap for the primaries and lightcache for the secondaries. I also found that there was no apparent effect on speed when adjusting the subdivs of the lights. I also found that glossy reflections have a major effect on render speed when used with photometric lights, and paid careful attention to subdivs here as a result.
Also the kind of AA used had a massive effect on rendertimes with ADAPTIve being much quicker then fixed rate in this case.

The global QMC multiplier was always kept on 1.

Hopefully this will prove useful for someone as I know that Photometrics can be a headache!

    C+C's always welcome.

The deck seems to be a wierd structure, is it truly flat on the underside? I'd be expecting to see beams running across.

The lighting doesn't seem adequate enough even with using the IES data. I think they need more fittings or a different type ( perhaps a an eliptipar type )

Images look nice, but miss a little texture here and there.... I guess!

Thanks for the comments - here's the final image.

The ceiling is finished like that , and overall I think the client got slightly carried away with the carpark for some reason! Not my design however.

I'd imagine that prking lots like this would have a lot of props and signage, like fire extinguishers, emergency lights, handicap parking, exit signs, floor number indicator... Besides that, it's looking really good and the atmosphere is so real.

            cheers
