  • P3 Logistics development in Ostrava/Czech Republic

    Hi there,

loong time no post, as always LOL.

Located in Ostrava, Czech Republic, the developement area will be used by P3 to build an industrial and commercial district that will include production and storage warehouses, stores, showrooms, offices, and various other facilities.

Here is a link to vimeo, pleas emake sure to swith to 4K resolution:
3D animation and spot for P3 Logistic Parks - P3 Ostrava Central on Vimeo

Some interesting facts about the project:

    1. Managed from within one master scene
    2. Scene size 30+ GB
    3. Textures another 30+ GB
    4. Average RAM consumption 230 GB + occasional swapping to SSD
    5. Rendering took 9 months on few TR 3990X
    6. Very difficult to track and match the drone footage because of its size and park road connections
    7. SW used - MAX, VRAY, FORREST PACK, ANIMA, CITYTRAFFIC, RAIL CLONE, AE, PS

The following video consists of filmed/acted/story part and 3D part.
The 3D part starts roughly around 1 minute onwards. with some bits shown at teh very beginning.

The filmed bit and 2D graphics was done by another agency.

Static shots to follow later on if anyones interested.

That's a really good piece of work and I'm sure was fun to work on.
The traffic is great and the people especially work very well indeed....none of the usual crappy animated ones which is great to see

LOL, I just saw that rendering time..wtf?! I've done some really long renders but that is insane

      Turned out great
How many 3D artists worked on it?
What sw was used for the drone footage tracking

      Kind Regards,

          Thanks guys!
yeah the rendertime was hoorible but client was willing to wait i somewhat expected such times due to 4K resolution and presence of dof and motion blur. Have to say there were days when we werent rendering at all cos we had other production going on.
i encountered some very strange delays on render end mainly around denoiser, lens effects and finishing render, in some cases as much as 30 minutes! But the job had to be done and there was no way to send that scene with such ram apetite to farm. So we just sucked it up ))
There were 4 people working on it overall but majority of the time landed on my desk.
Tracking was done in After Effects and i outsourced the guy who did it but there was so much fiddling with it afterwards in max mostly setting up the scale right, rotations, plcment ect. I was definitelly the worst part of the project and i truly hated it cos it was quite unreliable. First time we ve done this too so i am very happy its all behind us now D
