  • Yet another Pool Villa

Yet another pool villa, quite a bit bigger compared to the last one I've posted here in the gallery

Some statistics: 15million polygons + render/multi instances + Vray Proxy. 2D displacement for the cobblestone. Physical sun for both day and night sky, plus area and sphere light for the night views. Everything modeled by me in Cinema4D except for the palm trees, cars (from Cosmos library) and a couple moldings. About 10 days of work, it was a tight deadline so there was no time to play with pool caustics. Render time for 4K images between 30 and 60 minutes on a single 8core system, small tuning using Cryptomatte and minor editing in PS.
I'm not very satisfied with the night shot so feel free to suggest about how to improve the illumination and the mood

A ton of detail. It is interesting that you model your tire tracks; it works well.

It is a very quick and flexible setup, draw a spline, sweep, done. The sweep already have UV coordinates so you just need to add a simple shader, in this scene you can see it better:

This works well for every other floor/asfalt details, like crosswalk, dirt, etc, it is also very quick to render.

Nice, just tried this with Maya sweep mesh and it works the same. Did you use Sun / Sky for the background sky render?

Yes this technique will work in every engine, for the tire tracks I also add some gradients to blend the start and the finish of the track with the floor otherwise you will get a sharp transition.
The scene is illuminated with a physical sun/sky but I've added a background picture applied on a large cylinder to get some clouds (I'm on C4D and we do not have Vray6 clouds system yet).
