They are some great images, though I have to say (nothing to do with your work of course)...what were they thinking with that interior design?
It is really weird...a kind of mashup of not so great 'sort of' modern bits with a decidedly dodgy 70's/80's aesthetic
that makes it look a bit cheap I think.
Oh well, they probably focus grouped it to that stage, so people must like it I guess

I'm wondering how you did the light swooshes...all textures or maybe motion blurred real lights?

If you watch youtube reviews of the Honda E, there are a lot of positive reviews of the interior...I think it might be one you need to sit in to appreciate, I quite like it, but I do like the use of non standard materials in car interiors. Regarding the backgrounds, theyre made from adding caustics texture maps to maya spotlights. Once I have a shot cam worked out for the angle of the car, I fire a bunch of these in to design the streaks around the car and get some nice reflections.

Here's a link to the caustics pack I used.

I read a few reviews (I don't drive by the way, so purely about the aesthetics) and they are mixed, though the first was hilarious and mentioned that the reviewer's kids had
refused to get into it on account of the embarrassment it caused them
        Can't please everyone

That's a cool technique for the streaks.

Here's a google drive link to the latest look dev / basic edit of the animation. There's lots more to add, and I might even show the car at some point!! So far all shots are rendered with a very low time limit using progressive and a lot of denoising, just to get renders into the edit. Everything will need to be re-rendered with noise free settings.

Here's a wip from this project. We've pretty much wrapped the main animation, I'll post a link when its posted online.

All of the shots were daytime and lit with an hdri, but after it was all done, they wanted to see a timelapse, and night version of the final shot. This is the current result. Going to make some tweaks, and it might possibly be used as the final shot instead of the daytime version.

We wrapped up the Honda E version a while ago. Im waiting to be able to share it. In the meantime, here's some wips Ive been doing with a Range Rover. Will probably crank out a few more angles with this car.
