  • Sun/Clouds test in older exterior scene

    Hello there,

after so many years of not using vray sun/sky i coudl not resist to try the sun mode as well as the clouds. I have to say i really like the result i am getting. Although i have some remarks towards the cloud system (possibly start in another thread) the fundament is more than usable in many situations

nice image, really like the vegetation, do you mind me asking what trees you are using in the background?

      Hi Adrian,
thank you, i generally use the best looking trees i can find on 3DSKY and then do quite tedious ovehaul on their materials so the albedos of diffuse match normal values and the same applies with trenslucency values. These quality trees are very easy to spot there you wont miss them when you see them DD
I think the tall ones come from Evermotion and there again i played with the mats.
I stopped using Maxtree ones as their quality decreased recently. Although i use some of their grasses and smaller plants they came up with few years ago. Those were decent.
      Hope this helps.

Stunning rendering, I really like the concrete and the contrast of the image. Would you recommend switching to Vray 6 in terms of UI speed or GI improvements? Or is it just the clouds? They look beautiful, but I can already hear the customers wishing for a less "toy story" sky.

Thanks Simpson coulds LOL...yeah kind of I wish there were more options for clouds really. The cumulus dont have enough variation + some option s for colors would be great but generally this works very well and is a good starting point.
Vray 6 is a decent upgrade I really like it and woudl recommend.
            GI seems same.
Havent done any tests really in terms of comparison of the features
