  • Small house in the valley #2

Here is another small house to be built in a new development in a mountain river valley. 1 or 2 more houses to follow. Any comments, critique, etc. are welcome.

Looks good, I' m sure you can sell that. The color grading and the contrast is way better compared to your earlier work.
    Things I don't like:

-the grass looks repetitive, needs maybe variety in angle and size of the grass blades.
-the car tires sink a little into the concrete
-that black hole Fangorn-forest entrance in the background to the right, it's very very dark.
-I don't understand that lower dark-grey part of the sidewalk. What is that? Maybe that would be clearer if a little bit of the entrance to the left was visible.
-the road material looks very flat and blue
-the roof is a little hard to distinguish from the forest in the background because the greens are so similiar

Sorry for nitpicking, I think overall it's a nice rendering.

Hey thanks so much for your valuable and helpful comments. Nitpicking perfectly OK and appreciated.

The client requested I rotate the view a bit and also change the garage door glass to frosted/white. I redid the rendering before getting your comments.

Re-color grading and contrast - I made use of a LUT applied to both the backplate and the 3D model. I think that helped tie them together a bit. also worked on the vegetation materials.

Agree the grass could be improved. It's a Forest Pack preset. I did increase the variation in height but it could use some variation in angle/bend. Next time I guess.

I think car tires are kind of flattened where they contact the ground so I did that purposely. Looks OK to me but...that's just me.

That "black hole" is part of the Background Photo. It's actually an existing solid wood fence with shadow on it. I pasted some vegetation over it in pshop.

There is no sidewalk. Curb and gutter and road. Road material is form Poliigon un changed by me. Agree it could be better, it looks better int he high res version, the bump shows up better.

Roof shingles are what has been specified to use owens corning "peppermill grey" so that has to stay.

      Thanks again!

Looking good! Are those clouds from the photo? I would use Photoshops sky replacer; those look slightly off to me. Also, for white siding like that, I usually do an extra texture with a dirt map to add back detail in shadows.

Thanks you Bobby! Yes the clouds are part of the background photo.

I have not used extra texture but will look into that. Sounds like a good idea for this white siding. I’m thinking it’s like using an AO layer (used to add an AO layer esp to interiors but now with current vray that has become unnecessary)
