An attempt with interiors! It's pretty plaine, but I'm planning to add assets later... just trying to get the base bones looking better, but I'm doing circles. Anyway, any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi what light do you have in the scene? It looks a bit washed out. If this is not a desired effect then first thing to look into is lighting.

You could add a little ambient occlusion or a very thin VRayDirt to enhance the edges a little, especially with all these white surfaces.

Next big impact would be to remove the magenta global illumination colour bleed which is either from the floor material or your camera's white balance needs to be adjusted precisely.
Try both - a VRayOverrideMtl for the floor with a pure white material for GI (there is a really nice example in the docs page) and the VRayPhysicalCamera's white balance.

Another minor remark is the marble for the kitchen top. The scale looks too big but I will not argue, there are such finishes it just looks too big to me.

Hi Dayna. Overall you have a very nicely crafted scene! Agree with Vladimirs comments. The direction of the light seems fine but the scene appears washed out and lacks contrast. Not sure you need to add AO w dirt. I thought that was an older method no longer much used in newer vray, but I may be wrong about that.

If your light is vray sun and sky, is the sky for sure connected to the sun and instanced to vray dome light? Also check the sun filter setting. Try “Filter” set to white to start?

Do you have filmic tone map added in the Vray Frame Buffer Adjustment Layers? That is good to use but then a curves linear contrast adjustment can help. I often add that in pshop as an adjustment layer.

consider turning on the lights and have some lens flare with them?

Fix the lighting and you will have a very nice looking scene! (keep the assets/accessories to a minimum imo.)

It looks good. I would agree, it looks washed out, but nothing a curve can't fix.

Thanks for your feedback Vladimir, appreciate your advice / comments. The scene is definitely looking washed out.

For lighting I'm just using a Vray Sun with an instanced Vray sky map. I've added an AO map in post with maybe 20% opacity...

My exposure / white balance is just set to auto. For the OverrideMtl, do you mean plugging one into the GI Environment? I'll have to take a look in the docs for that example, but will definitely try it out.

              -----

              Appreciate your input Mark, thanks.

I've found using AOs with a little opacity adds a little more depth... Does anyone else do this?! Also definitely agree about the lack of contrast.

My sky is instanced to a dome light, but my filtering was set to override. I'll try some renders with it set to 'filter' and play around with some colors.

I added a filmic tone map in PS, but again, kept the opacity low.

I'm going to play around with the lighting before adding any assets and I'll also add some interior lights to have a look.

              ----

              Thanks Bobby!

I think you are 90% there. Add some clutter, placed strategically, and you'll be golden. Maybe warm the image up and add a medium curve in PS.
