  • CGIs for a Tile manufacturer

    Hi there!

I had the opportunity to work on some CGIs for a tile manufacturer. The task involved creating lifestyle images using the product pictures provided to me. I would appreciate any comments or feedback you might have on the work I've done. Thank you in advance!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

These all look fantastic and I'm sure the client was delighted with them.

I'm not sure if it's my early morning eyes playing tricks, but the little table with the plant in the 'scallop' image seems to be floating a little.

      Absolutely stunning.
I'm blown away by the color match between the sample and the scene.
How much color retouching is done on the raw rendered images?
Could we see the raw rendered images?

          Nice..really nice!
Simple but clear to read and I agree with other users, the color matching is really good.

What kind of sources or samples you received from the manufacturer?

Great spot! I actually noticed another similar mistake. Thank you for checking the images so meticulously!

Thank you for your feedback, everyone! It's really helpful. I mostly use VFB for color correction and white balancing, and I do a bit of touch-up in Photoshop to tweak selected materials later on.

But were they scanned or anything else that could eliminate reflections? I think that kind of tile should be quite reflective, so take a picture without reflections could be not so easy, at least for basic knowledge as photography. Do you create other maps than diffuse/albedo? If yes, how?

Yes, the tiles were scanned to capture their details.. For depth i add little detail i the model itself. As for other maps besides diffuse/albedo, I create them in Photoshop. I start by desaturating the image and then manipulate it until I achieve the desired result Hope this helps?!

Yes, I think it's enough. Now it's clear.

I got to thinking about how these were produced and wondered if they were on a roll, though of course now I see they are ceramic and are 300x600 tiles which are
printed with the design, so there'd be a (at least a noticeable join) gap between each of them when laid out on a wall.
Did they not want that to be indicated? I'd understand if not, though I'd argue that they should be shown as they'd be in reality and it wouldn't detract from the image, whilst also being accurate

Actually no!, They look seamless as they join like puzzle pieces..

Ah ok, I see...that's cool then I had a look at their website and couldn't see anything but a reference to a rectangular tile with the design on it, so that was
                              what confused.
