  • Historic Train Depot

This project is a renovation of a Historic 1880's train depot building. I live close to the building and used to poke around in it when it was abandoned and in disrepair. there was some cool stuff in it including an old narrow gauge train car.

Over the years it has been revived and made into a brew pub, a restaurant and an art school, now it's going to be a meeting spot for science conferences and also rented out for other events like weddings, film festival stuff, music and etc.

I used my (somewhat new to me) drone for the exterior backplate shot..

Nice work, buddy. It is always nice working on historic stuff. It would be nice to get some tree shadows across the front of the exterior.

Thank you both for your review!

Bobby - I wish I had added a lot more shadow as you point out. I did extend a meager bit of shadows from the river walking path up onto the foreground of the model but not nearly enough. I should have looked at the backplate I shot <g>.

Jackie - I do not provide the interior design. there is an architect, an interior designer and a lighting designer all involved, I do add some touches in places where info has not been provided or is unclear or etc.

The renderings show the exterior from the SouthEast looking towards the NorthWest. The interiors are of the West upper level wing (shown as scientist at tables and then the wedding configuration), the main Entry with Donor Wall in stairwell, and the lower level "Solarium" which is an addition being added to the SE corner and it has the deck above shown in the exterior rendering.

The backplate for the exterior is below along with a photo of the North side of the building taken before construction began when it was in it's previous incarnation as an art school. Bottom of ski run is shown behind.

        Thanks again for your comments!

looks better but now you need to soften and lighten a lot of the chairs shadows , they don't match now. Maybe just rerender that left patio portion with the tree shadows.Good job Mark.

eeks -I see what you mean! I am going too fast and not looking at it carefully. This has already been accepted as completed by the client just tweaking it on my own and making it difficult for myself <g>.

Thanks for your helpful comments! Much appreciated.

I like how you replaced some of the trees in the foreground with cg trees to achieve control. They blend in nicely, well done well done. Something about the surfaces of the house (cladding and roof) makes them look flat, but I wouldn't know how to fix that myself. Maybe add some gradients in photoshop or make some use of VrayDirt.
                    However, good project.

Hi aebi_vincent. Thanks for your review and comments!

(Sorry for the delayed response. I was traveling in remote area for the past couple of weeks and blissfully out of cell and internet range.)
