Just wanted to introduce my self.
Here's something I did for fun more than a year ago.
Dedicated to all the citizen of Pernik.

Done in Max and V-ray... and a small dose of Photoshop.

And no.... no Z-Bursh. Everything was done in the good old slow fashioned subdivision surface way. I'm still somewhat Zbrush shy P

Yes, sorry, I only noticed after posting that you didn't mention Zbrush.
Nothing wrong with your (and my) chosen method...sometimes much much quicker in any case
