  • Gnomon Workshop

Hi so it's been a while since I used Vray, but I started using it again, and made this Gnomon workshop that covers mainly modelling and texturing, but goes over a little lookdev as well with Vray, I've rendered this with Vray GPU on 2X rtx titans, hope you like it! more renders and context in the link https://www.artstation.com/artwork/OG5PWK

I can't comprehend how long it would take to create those textures. Any tips? Question, is the door being cracked to revel the sliver of light to bring the viewers attention to the door? Just wondering.

My advice is having solid uv's, because whatever you neglect in UV stage, will bite you when texturing, especially when covering large surface areas, with many udims! In the beginning when I was making the workshop I only had the two lit lanterns on the sides, but since you were looking between them anyway kinda, it was balanced, but then I decided to make the clockface lit glass instead of metal sheet, so suddenly your eyes would move in a triangle lantern-clock-lantern, so some light at the bottom kinda balances it a bit, plus makes the place look inhabited, and more mysterious, as the door can be percieved as "inviting" or "unsettling" because it's open a bit. hope that helps!

Solid is a colloquial way of saying, in this context, 'very good' or 'great'
