    check shadow areas

    1st: irradiance map 1.0
    2st qmc 0.5
    adaptive -1/2 catmull
    preset: high (weighted ave/density-base)

    anyone know why?

    ahh have you tried ticking "smooth surface shadows" on your lights?

      yes

      yes. i do have it on.

      On the sunlight (vray shadow):
      Transparent shadows = off
      Smooth surface shadows: on (Bias0.2)
      Area shadow = on
      Subdivs = 8

      in fact, the shadow on the sphere is ok since there won't be bricks on round obj. but the shadow area with blurry bump texture is bugging me. i hope someone has a solution. thank you.

        Decrease the Threshold for the Adaptive subdivision AA and it should be fine (the texture in the shadow, I mean).
