Very new to Vray but have worked most of the available tuts. I am noticing that the best results are from the c/c here. I am trying to get a more clean and representative basswood study shot. Using 1 omni in the center with Vray shadows. Do I need a bump map? or different lighting attributes to get a better result? Any help would be awesome.

              thats helps a bit.
              I would remove the omni.
search on this forum for a studio setup to see how other people set their scenes up. At least it will be a good start

                Hello, trajic.

As I see you are really new to V-Ray... jacks02's advice is also very good to start with.

My suggestion in your case would be aboslutely different and has nothing to do with V-Ray or any other topics discussed here on the forum.

                You said,
I am trying to get a more clean and representative basswood study shot.
so, my advice is start looking at real-life materials and take examinations
of all their features and You will soon dicover that for example:
Tip #1: all wooden surfaces - have reflections... bumps and so on...

A basic study of 3D would also give you lots of guides for getting better results with or without V-Ray.

                Best regards,
                nikki Candelero
