  • Light fitting - comments.

Hi, I'm fairly new to Vray (and totally new to this forum). I'm using Max 7.0. I import my geometry with DWG Link as I model in Microstation.

I'd just like some comments/advise on these images. I have an HDRI environment - just for looks, not accuracy of an existing interior - (there are only 3 walls forming the corner), the light is from a vray light material and I've added a series of omnis in the fitting with very low res shadow maps to get the blurred lighting shadows on the wall.
I think I need to up the brightness of the light itself and was thinking of adding light(s) as fill. I have some different options to do with the rings as solid (they are semi transparent right now)
The image size is 2250 x 3000, the small fitting took 1h20 and the large 3h45.

As a beginner- any comments/crits would be welcome. - The design is not mine.

    Many thanks,
    Richard

    Nice job !

Maybe you should decrease the fill and lighten the inner light of the lamp.

To get a nice reslut, you can maybe try a self illum on the cylinder light on the right, but i'm not sure your shadows will be accurate enough... In this case you'll have to increase the parameters of your IR map.

      Pixelab,

Thanks for your comments. I'm going to try adding a fill light to brighten the walls.

I'm making progress now but I have a number of options to do, in this option I'm getting some odd artefacts on the walls.

        Any suggestions?

        Thanks,
        Richard

Upping the Light cache sorted it.
