    this is a rencent image of a local theatre we are working on.

    ohh yeah... this is using light cache for both primary and secondary, cause i was in a hurry. render time 4-8min. with vray displacement on the brick. orig. image was 2200x1400.

        I'm working on a theater project right now as well, and the sectional rendering with black background does indeed work very well. We've been using it too.

          Is it just a cutting plane on the camera or something different?

            this is just camera cutting plane.
            i did a model of the whole thing so we can do perspectives too.
            plus i think light bounces better as a whole model
