  • RoBo-One

I recently discovered the very cool world of robo-one, these little guys are amazingly agile creations. A little pricey at $1300+ but wow.

I found this guy in pieces of about 20 step files, converted them to iges files and imported them into Max. To bad Max is such a dog with nurbs, the iges imports looked sweet but just a few brought Max to it's knees.

Here's video of a real one in motion

Max is indeed ugh when it comes to nurbs....but then there´s still powernurbs and with Powertranslators you can import those steps as solids....But i actually wanted to ask too where you found those step files

Ok, now that you got em we should rig em up, customize em a bit and write scripts to control them.
Then we can have them fight like real robo-ones.

                    Nice render!

That robot is quite amazing, the movements, the balance, I'm impressed.

Cool, I'll hopefully get some time to rig mine up this weekend. Still trying to decide on a method. I don't have CAT so maybe biped or just good old fashion bones.

Also considering some sort of scripted "control panel" where a series of servo movements could be programed.

I haven't had a lot of time to work on animating but I have gotten as far as to write a script that reads actual motion data and applies it to the model.

Here is a rough test using the KHR-1 Improved Forward Walk Data

                            http://robosavvy.com/Builders/V-Arch/robowalk.mov

Requires Quicktime 7 (if it won't play in your browser right click and "save target as" and play from there. It crashes when I try to play it in my browser)

Where did you get the mocap data from?
