  • Home for rich retired fogeys (WIP)

been so busy I haven't posted in awhile, so thought I'd post this WIP. This is a condo unit for retirees in an upscale retirement complex. You may have seen some of the exterior, you know, the one with all the trees?

There will be an animation of the entire unit, but the real fun thing will be an interactive flash presentation potential clients can navigate what will allow them to choose custom finishes and appliances etc for the entire unit.

All the possible combos will amount to a couple thousand renders.... lol

very nice image! I like the amount of detail and decoration - it really suits the kitchen of an elderly person.

You might consider adding some light fittings to the ceiling tho, looks like the room is lit by invisible lights.
And the cupboard above the fridge would better sit flush with the fridge, it's a bit hard to reach as it is now...

It's quite typical above the fridge for the cabinets to be this way (at least in the U.S). But yes, it's hard to reach, especialy for the elderly.

LOL. You need to add a walker with tennis balls too.

Anyhow enough of the bad jokes. It looks really great aside from the phantom lights.

Nice render and attention to detail. How about a higher res render for the elderly

Nice lighting and texturing. Is there really a gap between the end of the cab over the fridge and the next cab over (a pantry cab maybe?)?

The camera distortion is a little extreme.

                  Nice job Perc.

Things dont seem to be all that reflective.. that the fridge seems to be matte white. Although i can see reflections on the side of the fridge.. odd..

Ahh well either way looks really good mate!!
Straight from render? any post work..

What sort of light setup you got for that room?

v.nice image, the only things that stand out are the artifacts on the cornice and the grain on your sink mat. Looks like its a quick render? nice job!

the microwave/ rangehood is pretty damn cool. Woods nice but it almost looks like its starting to tile or something. All of your filler objects are great though. Oh are the kickboards wood? maybee run the grain on these horizontally for some separation. Wow never thought id think of so many suggestions when i started typing this lol

drawehn, are you an elderly person yourself? I wonder why it is a kitchen for elderly persons... It looks already a lot better than mine.

Looks nice. But if you really want to make it appealing to old folks, you need to add little teacups with doylies and stuff. Or add like pink ceramic tiles like its something out of the 50's...

nice image, but the camera dist is too heavy imo. the bottom of the fridge looks really streched. would it be possible to change the view/perspective to get rid of this? or is it a difficult space to work with?

good call francis. id have to look again at the cad plan but I cant imagine there should be.

Daforce, theres a bit of post, which might be muting the reflection in the fridge hard to say, of course a solid white object with fresnel reflections is most likely not gonna have easily discerned reflections at such a minor incidence angle.

paulison. your right about the artifacts and the grain. was a quick render that took maybe 7-8 mins with AA. And ya i agree the wood is tiling a little bit. will adjust that.
