    Hey all,
    I can finally post this.
Well, I can post one of the commercials. We did 2 of these spots and I will post the second one when I can. It hasn't aired yet.

Amazing composition. Great work. So you got to work with Kosinski?

As a side-note, it's kinda how I feel after I smoked a whole pack of them within two-hours of sitting.

Really really nice stuff rob - really elegant and subtle fx work. The shots with the burgundy petals and the water are really great. Grade is lovely too. The concept is a little abstract for a cigarette comapny though I reckon...

Great stuff, cant wait to see the second.

thanks for the kind words everyone.
we had some great people on this job that did amazing work.
kosinski was really great to work with as well. very good eye and a genuinely nice person.

we did use the new terragen to generate the bg and used it also to generate the environment map that became the lighting image. the lighting setup (because of vray) was easy and looked amazing.
render times were about 45 min/frame average at 768x576

Mmmm. Side topic - how did you like it? They also have been avoiding posting render times. I can't wait till the beta comes out at the end of the month... It looks amazing.

nice work! Can you tell us what the resolution of the environment map you created for that?

                        Again awesome work.

the leaves are all pflow yep.
they were rendered using a new shader vlado made for thin translucent materials.

the resolution of the environment map was about 2k wide. not very big but big enough.

it's not. it's a 2sided mat that vlado created just for this purpose.
the fastsss is more to simulate skin or something thick. the leaves and banners are thin so we needed something that rendered fast but also had translucent properties
