  • old house with new balconys

    Hi guys!

This is a newly finished project of mine. The house is old (and ugly)... whats new are the balconys. Not my design, I just did the 3D.

Lighting is made with Vray sun + sky. The vray sky is also used for reflections in the windows.

since its finished I wont be doing any changes to it, but crits n comments are very welcome anyways!

The repeated texture of the asphalt is quite distracting. Are the curbs really faceted like that or should they be curved?

      thanks for the reply!

agree with you on the asphalt tiling. dont think it is quite as obvious in the full size render, but its unnessesary anyways... would have been easy to fix.

the curbs are made of individual concrete blocks, thats why they look faceted. again this looks better in the big version, but I guess I couldve made it smoother.

Are those onyx trees and bushes?

marcoos - thanks! the vray sun/sky is included in the coming build.

cristoforo - the bushes are onyx. I downloaded the trees from this forum a few months ago. The thread was called "a few trees and flowers" or something... cant remember exactly.

looks really nice, except for the curbs and road tiling as mentionned, you should also correct verticals (apply a camera correction modifier to your cam).

              very good work !

Looks good. But seems to me that the lighting is not consistent: the sky, building itself, grass, trees and road...

chris - the client wanted it like this (without corrected verticals). Some people Ive shown this image to says it looks like the house is tipping over, but I personally think it works well with non-straight verticals in this pic.

archcanvas - not sure If I can see what you mean. The whole scene is renderd as one pass, and the lighting is just a sun + environment. no additional lights. Could you please explain a bit more what you think is wrong with the lighting?

thanks to both of you for your inputs!

I agree. The sky should be more over exposed me think.

såg det på animate också. verry good! Wat´s your time frame for this?

                      hallå Daniel!

ok, I think you guys are right. The sky is just a background picture, and It should probably be more overexposed as you say.

daniel - I did other stuff while doing this so I had the project for over a week. But actual work-time?... about 2 days modeling, texturing, lighting. then 3-4 hours rendering, and some minor post work after that. (making it abit brighter and reducing saturation etc)
