Just two quick renders of a courtyard thats still work in progress. its kinda tough going since im not a designer and this project has hardly any details to it from the architect.

Real nice - shadows are spot on, lovely and soft. Trees and grating around the base are really nice - photoreal, and the courtyard paving is really nice, you've really nailed the sun look.
My only crit is the buildings details - green railings and orange walls, are quite saturated. Doesn't look as soft and real as the paved floor. They seem very "strong" and over powering in the image. I'd probably try and get a bit more contrast in the image - slightly stronger sun maybe, and darker shadows maybe?
Looking promising. Nice detailing with the grass poking up around the tree grates. I agree with "sv", the lighting is spot on, especially at ground level, but it doesn't work so well on the upper level, especially with those saturated orange and green.
well to be honest about the colors very saturated colors is something you find alot down here. the green i do need to drop some saturation on it sliiightly to get the shade of green most people down here use. the upper floors actually gets more light than it should because there are no roof structures up and the walk ways are not perfectly covered as yet.
the palms actually i need to do alot of work on, its a coconut tree i got from x-frog tropical tree collection, and i cut the base off and added my own base to it

nice work daelf. I agree with helpdesk, needs a few more specular highlights on the handrails and doors.
I guess it depends on how much time you have to finish it!

Ha! It's strange people's different approaches from around the world. In the sunny UK i never light a scene with a direct sun because we don't have one - all my renders are different shades of grey with overcast skys and soft shadows from the Grey sky - but no sun shadows... I'd love to have a Caribean outlook....
Great work as usall, need to work on the windows on the second floor, the only way i was able to tell that there were windows there was the reflection near the door.
yeah i assume by time i get to the final product the insides of all the stores will be modeled and logos on the glass etc.
for all those who commented about specular. what would be a good reflection setting for my walls?
