    Hello all,

this is one of my first renderings with vray. Looks not to bad for me in the first shot but although it´s not satisfying. Looks a bit grey and lifeless. Furthermore I got some render artefacts. Maybe some of you can give me some help to improve the scene. All materials are vray. Light are vraylights in all windows, multiplier are 4.0. One direct light, mult 2,5. The settings are:
Resolution: 3000x2250 Rendertime was about 9 hours...
    adaptive QMC 1/4
    Prim. Irrid map
    min/max-3,-1 / Hsph.50 / Interp.25
    clr thr. 0,3 Nrm.thr. 0,2 dist 0,1
    Least square fit

    Sec. Light cache / Sub 1000 / size .002 / scale screen

    environment light blue Mult 5,0

    QMC Sampler:
    adaptive 0,8 / min sampl. 16 / noise 0,003 / global 2,0
color mapping HSV dark 1,3 bright 2,0

It seems that there are some overlapping faces here and there, so setting your secondary rays bias to something like 0.001 may help the problems with these.

      Best regards,

Okay thank you, I will try these settings.
I used neither max windows nor max walls. They are all "hand crafted".

Okay, this is the final one for now. Doing some things in photoshop for finishing.
@vlado: what exactly do you mean with secondary ray bias? I used light cache for secondary bounces. In this case do you mean the sample size parameter in the light cache menu? I set it to 0,001 but it would help only with the overlapping faces at the window, but the solution behind the radiator at the wall was the same as before. I have blurred the splotches now in phsp.

            Thanks for help

You need higher IR setting to get it smooth.
Try rendering a Crop only in that area with raised settings, till you get the optimal you want.
