  • First Exterior

Hey all, need some good feedback please on my first exterior. I know there are many things out of whack, but if you could let me know what stands out the most. I feel most of the "money shot" is missing in the image bleakness.

    Direct light, mult. 6
    1 vray light, mult. 10
    QMC .85 second bounce
    Saturation .9
    HSV exp
    bright - 2.1
    dark - 1.2

    thanks, brian

    Nice first try.

Few things you need to fix: the tiling on the roofs; the truck is a weird colour and looks overblown; try to find a leaf map to apply to the trees, especially with the foreground tree being so close to the camera; and your sky lighting doesn't match the light in the scene. Maybe try a brighter sky with the amount of light you have in the scene.

Hey thx, I know what you mean aobut those issues. The truck is over blown. With the leaves, are you referring to an opacity map? I just started using treestorm and when i tried a few of them in the scene even as proxies, I keep running out of memory. Is there a better way with the leaves then?

your settings seem wwaaaaaayyy too bright. i normally just put my direct light at 0.6 and my vray environment override at about the same and just raise and lower them as needed and i dont use any color mapping. i never on an exterior go over 0.8 on either direct light or environment light
