  • Hold on tight

I am so glad im able to use this forum again. Now i got my own company and my own license im finally able to post here again. A hartly hello to everybody.

It has been a while since i posted something. I finally have some time again for my private work and wanted to start with something nice and simple.

I wanted to make something cool and came acros a jar from Alessi in my house and decided to make that. also wanted a twisted version of it so that would be the melted one.

I used polymodeling for the guy hanging there and spline modeling for the rest. There is no story behind this piece except that i liked the idea (although probably not the most original ideas) and it was fun working on it.

Any critics or comments are welcome.

    Enjoy

    Greets,

    Nelis

very nice! I like the melting. Is it animated or is it modeled. Tha jar looks like plastic for some reason. is it?

IMO, the jar looks more like a Non-shelled object. I would add some thickness to it. Rest is just great !

Its modeled and not animated (could have been animated some way) the jar top and the dude is plastic and the rest is glass.

What does make it look like plastic to you? im interested in hearing what you think.

It has a thickness and i made it to match the original jar as close as possible.

It doesn't look shiny enough to be glass. It might be the reflections (or lack thereof) that doesn't make it look right. Maybe try a different reflection map or hdri? I dunno, but it does look plastic to me.

Little guy and the melting effect are pretty sweet though.

Clever idea! I'd like to see the jar a little thicker, so that it would look a bit more like glass. I also think it would be neat if the bottom 15% or so of the jar was filled with the same goopey material so that it looked like the character emerged out of the goop, and then was melting back into it.

I'd love to see this animated, it could make a great short... the story of this liquid clay creature trying to escape from the jar, banging on the walls and the lid, etc. It could be really funny and cute!

                    That is pretty cool.
                    The melting is great.

The jar does look a little plastic like the other said, it needs a little more thickness and reflection IMO
