Mathew,
You might try using a displacement map instead of a bump map on your siding. Maybe even on the roof aswell.Mike Henry

what I am having issues with is getting a life like final version of what I do. I can't pin point my issues. is it my lighting, plants? grass? background... it is getting to a point where I can't take any longer, I see images posted online with so much life and detail, but yet I always seem to fall short... I have been reading books and techniques etc.. but just can't seem to find my Ninche within my projects...
Thanks

Hey Mathew.
The house its self looks great.
The interior detail and window reflections are great. I wish I was allowed to spend time on curtains with my work.
A few suggestions...
1. Add some shadows to those RPC's. Photoshop works great for that.
2. Trees to frame in your house look great, like there's a woods behind it. I think it makes the house look more inviting than to be sitting in the middle of a huge field.
3. Some shadows from trees in the foreground also help to frame the house in. Also some shadows from trees on the house its self help make the house tie in to the scene better and just give it an appealing look (IMO).
4. Displacement on your grass will help the scene a lot. Your grass has a very "clone" feel to it.
5. Maybe some small tree(s) in the foreground to help break up the monotony (sp?) of the lawn.
And lastly, it often helps to place your main light at a 90 degree angle to your camera, it helps give your subject more contrast, and puts some nice shadows on the ground.
Here's an image I thought came out nicely...
Keep up the good work.

i think everything looks great in terms of the rendering but just needs a bit of work on composition. I agree with everything the last guy said.
Foreground tree casting a shadow onto the house.
Possibly a bit more work on the foreground landscaping
vegetation around base of house could use a bit more variation and colour
Will there by any trees in the background?. you can help the foreground and background compliment each other and tie in with selective placement of trees.
I think there is too much grass visible. One solution would be to push the camera further in and make it more of a wide angle. If you have the camera and target at eye level i think that may look good.
A lot of it is prersonal preference. For example I would make the sun shadows a bit sharper, have a less cloudy background and also have some dim lights internally to add a bit more life through the glass.
biggest help, look at architectural photography of single story houses. They have to be dealt with differently than two story or larger developments because they are more horizontal.
Lastly, I hope this isnt too unsulting (sorry if you are the designer!!) but i strongly dislike this kind of 'architecture' of trying to make a cardboard box look like it is worth more by sticking on a few partial references to houses rich people had 50 years ago.

Thank you for the comments guys.... the problem is we use RPC shadows and I can never get them to shadow correctly nor can I get the tress to look good in the scene they always look out of place or way off color. I would love to add shadows to the scene and tie the house more into the background... but I guess that is where my skill is lacking any pointers or ideas on how to do this successfully would be appreciated.
As for the design, I have no say. I get what our design team has done on paper and create it in a 3D environment. Thanks
