Probably the new 2 sided vray-mat, works great for stuff like that.
    Exactly.

The problem with the NON-lit back wall is that the VRayLights normals are up and down - thus the wall reamains a bit unnaturally lit just behind the lamp. If i had removed the back face of that cloth shape, probably it would've been ok.

    P.S.

Nikki, I hope you have a matching thong to go with that blanket =]
That would need some serious thinking how to model it

thanks for showing the 'before photoshop' look!
The vray render itself is amazing btw, but with ps it gets more dramatic and more focused.
and i like the grain noise

ps. seems like nikki takes the 'black borders' thing really seriously.... he even render 'em straight from VRay .. LOL

lol. The Black border was the only thing done in PS over the clean render-out.

                Well done.

I like your approach to the lighting.

                Great stuff!!
                Ditto.
Seems a variation on 3 points lighting, nicely done.

Very nice atmosphere. The pillows and bedsheet are amazing! On the other hand, the fur is strange-looking. But the modeling of the bed throw is really good.

I know you got the design from a magazine, but all that animal hide is creepy - there's just waaayyy too much of it. The artwork would be better centered over the bed so that it is illuminated more evenly by the bedside lights and just for a more pleasing composition. The ultra-white crown molding is rather odd.

                            Nice work Nikki.
                            It looks photoreal.
Just a couple of things that caught my eye:
                            1. The handle on the cupboard doors look too perfectly mirrored.
They kind of stand out against the darker timber.

                            2. The timber materials lack specularity or glossiness. It all seems kind of flat and perfectly smooth, esp the floorboards. There is some tiling or weird pattern going on.

                            3. Lamp material, as mentioned by others, doesn't look quite right yet.

                            4. End wood grain on the headboard is going the wrong way, I think.

                            These are minor nitpicks.
                            Great job though!
