Nice image Randy. Are you using something like 'smoke' in the bump channel to get those sharp wavecrests or have you just cranked up the detail on the sea surface?

first images! definately for my taste. forget about the shadow, olitech pic resolves any doubt.

I think the problem was on first image produced by the reflection of the white strip that signals flotation line, making appear the water to be lighter around the boat instead of the darker our reason is telling us it should be?.

hard to say what is reflection and what is shadow.

I'd say it is reflection, look at the foam (it takes a shadow) see it is totaly in shadow but yet appears to cast it's own shadow, it is just the unlit side of the foam reflecting.

I think you could be right there Fermí. I'll keep that in mind for next time. Maybe I'll render out the sea separately without the white boot-top line on the boat and then comp the two together.
