I prefer the one without dof. Also I think the ies light pattern is a little too strong on the right hand side. Otherwise, perfect!

      very nice!

better without DOF imo... I usually like DOF but in this case I dont think it does the image any good. Also, with the background blurred, your eyes are directly drawn to the chair in the forground.

btw, the chair looks absolutely awsome! did you model it yourself, or is it an evermotion model or something??

        nice one tom!
I think without DOF too. Maybe if the DOF were stronger to focus the eye on to a specific object it would be better

          Ah thanks..

I think you are right.. the depth of field rather was a test of the depth of field pluginn of richard roseman..

but in this case where the foreground backround thing isnt that important, i think you are right.

          thanks..

and.. i only had one day for this (ok at last with client changes i got 2 days.. ) so modelling the things... no chance.. its a great evermotion libary..

              Hi Jacks02..

Well I think its a real great photosop plugin.

only problem, for getting all the channels for this immage, i had to render it on a single computer..

which took much to long.. and stripeset with channels still doesnt work..

but the plugin itself (dont like the interface to much ) works great.

                            Looks awesome!

But I have a couple of technique questions (I'm relitively new to vray rendering). How did you go about texturing the inside (bulb part) of the lights on your cieling? Are the textures inside of the lights just the settings for chrome in vray (i.e. black diffuse, and pure white reflective)? And also, did you use IES photometric lights? If so, did you place them right under the light bulbs to get the shining ("on") effect in the lights?

Sorry about all of the questions, but I am trying to get better at making my own scenes, and anylizing other people's work is how I learn

I'll put myself out there and say I like the dof

I would blur the background more though as the sharpness is putting me off at the moment. I think it adds a lot to reading the space. Alternatively you could reverse the dof and make the sitting area in the distance the focus.
