  • Int ext exposure

My new thing with vray 1.5 has been to look into traditional photo setups. I have been playing with fill lights again. Once I started with GI I used the software to boost shadows or adjust the exposure. Now that I am using a "real camera" I have tried to go back to lighting the scene correctly with lights. More like a real world situation.

There are some great books out there on int. photography they show where to place a fill light and what kind of artificial light was used and what settings the camera was at to take the picture. I have Lighting for Interiors by John Freeman on my desk and I have been recreating some of his setup in 3d to see how he approached challenging lighting situations.

I based this image off a photo he took of the Baggy House in England. I liked the way he adjusted his exposure for a mixed int/ext lighting situation. But when I recreated my camera settings they were really off so I had to modify my camera to get a good exposure. I also wanted a repeating motif of the circle so I played with that a bit. not really a finished image but a test.
