  • Mixed Use Building- Commercial, residential, offices

Hi. here is a project i've been working on. this is the 3rd evolution of the design. the last renders of the design were done in light tracer.

comments and suggestions welcome. worked on the glass for a while, but not totally happy with it. want to make it a bit lighter. will look at some more references today. i think smaller windows seem a lot darker than big ones in photographs. . . ? light levels closer to the levels outside.. ?

i also want to add a kerb, work on paving material. and do something about the background.

Hello. I like the interiors you added with the tables and chairs, especially the stairway interior. Are you going to continue to fill those up, including the hospital interiors?

I am not an archvis expert but noticed a few things.
I cannot find any doors/entrances for the bank and hospital.
Are there not supposed to be any vertical supports for the glass where it meets at a 90deg angle above Nando's?
Also, your brick texture seems pretty tiled/flat. It looks like its properly to scale, so maybe using a texture with more brick variety and/or strengthening the bump on the bricks could make it more distinguishable.

      Howzat add101,

glass suppose to reflect something which "sees" it. It can be done in couple of ways. You can place cilinder around your object use some background as a material you want to be seen as reflection in your windows. You can use HDRI to light up your scene, and as a background, to be reflected in your window. And also to do that in photoshop, to superinpose directly onto a glass.

      Good start

      Regards

looking good, The glass is v nice,
Just glancing at it I would loose those cars and try and get something better, addsome bump or displacemnt to the brick (it is brick isnt it?) and especially the stone clading, chamfer its edges a tad.
Little bit of camera correction would help, whats your lighting setup?

the sky image is poor as it looks like a photo taken by someone lying down and shooting directly upwards, plenty of good sky images out there, try imageafter.com. It will be real nice when finished, stick with it man,

        Rgds,
        Tom

          thanks for the replies

insleight not sure of how the doctors rooms and bank will be laid out exactly. would be nice to add some interior detail. with all that glass.. not sure if i'll get to that, though. kinda finished with it. bit of a rush. but it's not totally resolved, so probably do quite a lot more on it.

the support for the slab there is a column which is flush with the bottom and top floors, and recessed inside. probably some other columns inside.. i think the corner is just butt-jointed glass. they were thinking of introducing some vertical frames on the glass.

yeah, the brick doesn't really gel. will get some photographic references, or look for other brick materials on the web. add more bump.

respenseks- thanks for the advice. i had a plane across the road with a photo of the building opposite, but it was getting in the way on some views, so i deleted it. might try with an HDRI environment light.

getting there. slowly. still kind of new to vray. feel like a bit of an amateur after looking at the amazing stuff on this site, and elsewhere on the web. more study, more practice, ....

tom 182 - thanks, still not completely happy with the glass. tricky thing to do because glass looks different in different situations. still going to play around with it a bit, but think it's pretty close to what i'm going towards.
oops yeah, just noticed cars aren't looking right. they still have architectural materials... from light tracer rendering..
not missing light tracer and radiosity much. although the radiosity preview in viewport is sO nice. but guess once computers are fast enough we'll have real-time renders (like 24+ renders per second- in viewport- no render button) or should i wish upon a star cool how technology advances so fast.

sky is cropped from upper section of photo from another site. been using it on most projects we've been working on. want to find a nice one with a lighter horizon (maybe some realistic smog )

getting there... learning all the time.
lighting is a sunlight system (direct light) multiplier 0.9 . sky is std light blue. 1.07 multiplier. dark multiplier is 1.07 . linear.
