  • 1st V-Ray Interior - WIP

Here is my first shot at a V-Ray interior. The scene is based on this tutorial scene:

    http://www.evermotion.org/tutorials/...interior01.htm

All the geometry is the same. Only the lighting differs. I use only one V-Ray domelight + HDRI for this scene. I know that I need to add a background. Furthermore, I'll have to tweak the GI settings to eliminate the dirtiness. For now, I just wanted to get any c&c from others.

    Thanks

    Marcus

Both images need a lot more contrast. They look very washed out at the moment.

I also think you should use the camera correction modefier for both cameras.

I would suggest you to get rid of the domelight, put the hdri in the background (either visible, or the VRay ovveride one for GI) and for the best results (both in terms of speed and quality of the distributed light) try and use Lightcache as secondary method, and one between IRMap+Detail Enhancement or QMC as primary method.
This alone should be able to provide for the contrast you need, possibly also in a fraction of the rendertime.

Have a try, and see if it makes things any better/quicker

Sorry but the dirtiness is really awful. It looks like you are having a problem with color mapping or gamma correction (one and the same really).

Does your monitor need to be adjusted? Looks like maybe it is adjusted too dark.

              It seems x2 gamma corrected.

Good start. Your materials look good. Images look a little washed out. The dinning set is to large for the scene (scale).

Nothing a little "S Curve" in PS cant fix
Like 5 seconds worth of fixing, really does wonders to washed out LWF renders.
Obviously not perfect but fixes alot of the washed out problems.

Thanks everyone for the input. For some background, I am (attempting) to use the LWF for these renderings. Some of the washed-out colors was due to the colors not being corrected. I have used the color correct plug-in to correct this. I know the images from the tutorial scene has a lot more contrast. However, this person does not used LWF. Also he seems to have added some helper lights (like in the adjacent room. there is no way for any daylight to enter that room) in order to help the scene. Attached are my latest results.

Hey guys, a question from a newb....

What causes that "dirtyness" effect everyone is talking about? How do you fix that? I know that some of the dirty splotches has something to do with the presence of artifacts. Cn't you use a higher irradiance map setting or use Light Cache as your secondary bounces to fix?

Higher Ir map, higher LC, higher QMC, more light subdivs. Could be anything.

Without visuals its hard to be specific.

Yeah, we ought to cut daforce some slack for being in this business while being blind.

Sorry... i should have been clearer.. was trying to future proof my statement. Was impling that if he was having problems he should post them so we can look at them specifically. Rather than just assuming his problem is exactly the sames as these pictures

but yes.. it is true I am blind...

oh wait.. nevermind... forgot, I can actually see just fine

LOL , I can see where this thread is going..

lets get back and give our guy some more help For some reason I dont feel the colours look alot better than the first renders, but Im not the guy to ask for help on interiors (or exteriors for that matter) ) Second image does a little better but maybe thats because there are just a few colours in there.

can you post your vray render settings ?
