you can have lower IM settings and the detail enhancer will put in the detail where its needed. i think it uses a search radius kinda like the same concept behind the dirt map.

    ---------------------------------------------------
MSN addresses are not for newbies or warez users to contact the pros and bug them with
stupid questions the forum can answer.

I know what DE do, but I ask me, why it is not used at this image. I find no infos about the disadvantages. What would it cause at this image?

Wow, that is probably the best interior I've seen in a long time. Would you mind telling, did you use the sun/sky with their default settings? What about color mapping? Physical camera?

          Great job!

Would cause longer rendertimes as a QMC pass would be applied to the image.
Not as slow as a full QMC primary AA, as the range the sampling is taken at is limited, but still some time has to be allotted.
To all effects is a QMC gi pass with a shortcut, hence inherits the same issue, inversely proportional to render times, that plagues qmc GI: noise.

I looked for "detail enhancement" but can not find answer to my question for the limits of the method.
But if I think about it ... longer ... if many details are in a scene, than the QMC of the DE is active at so many areas, that it is faster to use the QMC instaed the IM. Right?

Well its not a rule as such its just politeness.

                      Anyway, have a look here
                      http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R...vancedimap.htm

And in this thread (that was linked for you earlier) download the PDF and the info is also in there.
                      http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpB...ic.php?t=17922

                      Not hard.

And as mentioned above if you wish to continue talkoing about detail enhancement... start a new thread of your own

                          wow! awesome design and render.
great level of photorealism. agree about the window arch looking kind of strange, but overall it's a fantastic image.
the wood is nice- the dark floor, and natural light wood look awesome.
