  • Vray Matte - Please Help!!

    Here is the SWF video:
    http://www.hk3d.com/temp/vray/070112_VrayMatte

    1) Where is the bad alpha coming from?

    2) What do you guys usually do to cast better reflection when doing Matte Rendering?

    3) Am I setting up the MatteObj correctly? Any thing i missed? (Matte=Checked/ AlphaContribution=-1/ Shadows=Checked/ AffectAlpha=Checked)

    4) As soon as I click close on the VrayObjProperties, it will setup the Matte data and reset the obj's Generate,ReceiveGI back to 1.0, so i have to re-open file to continious working, does everyone have a fix?

    Thank you in advance!!

What kind of AA filter did you use to render the car?

Do you have the decimal separator on your system as "," or "."?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      AA Setting

      Here is the AA Setting:
      AdaptiveSub:Mitchell/Size4/Blur0.333/Ring0.333
      Min0/Max2/ClrThresh0.05/ObjOutlineON/NrmThresh0.05/RanON

Sorry vlado, I don't understand what you mean about the decimal separator on your system as "," or ".". Would you explain?

When I play the animation, these weird looking alpha would pops up mostly on area i have reflection materials... This is not the first time, i had to paint out these alpha in AE in my older animation projects which wasn't fun. I know I must have done something wrong to cause these.

i think he means; look in control panel, regional and language options, press customize, do you have "." or "," there?

          screen

I see, I hope that doesn't have anything to do with the rendering...

With the rendering itself - no, but with the Object properties - yes. It is recommended to keep this to "." always; otherwise you may get the sort of issues you describe.

              list separator only?

Do you mean changing the just the "List separator" from "," to "." or do that on ALL other ones i'm showing on the screenshot? This doesn't make too much scenes to me but I really hope this will work.

Ah, sorry, I see the decimal symbol is "." and not "," - this is fine then.

For the incorrect alpha, you can try to use a different filter than "mitchell-netravali" (e.g. Area) and see if it helps.
