Milk has a peculiar property where it scatters blue light differently than red light
Yes - I've often thought that when making a cup of tea

Vlado, i think your milk went sour

The edges are too transparent and clear, it should be much thicker.

            hello Vlado,

Can you please talk more about the shader of the milk?

I will see if I can find the file, but your test looks a lot better already

                Best regards,

Glad you like the test Vlado. Still not 100% right but we will get there.

Since Vray is using BRDF method, Vray's Hybrid Translucency needs to be activated in order the material react with BSSRDF properties. Is that correct?
Since only single-bounce scattering is supported, how Vray's material / engine capable of creating 100% Real milk.

I am skeptical since my material consist of a Blend material with 2 different SSS VrayMtls, different Forward/backward coefficient so yellow / blue rays react different.

Here is the material in case someone is interested (still not final!)

                  Thank you,
                  Andronikos

...also wish nice Xmas and happy 2008 to all you guys!

You need to use the Hybrid translucency, yes.

We have multi-bounce scattering in V-Ray for Maya, so you can play with that to see what it would look like. Mostly, it looks to brighten up the material, which can be simulated also by adjusting the fog bias.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

Using similar materials just fine tunning the colors and fog settings. I have not yet changed the Fog bias... I will test it soon.

I will give a try to Maya's Vray (maybe)....to test multi-bounce scattering. Any plans to add it in Max?

                      Here is a newer rendering:

It is Real Flow. This is just a frame from the simulation. I can share the settings if you want but it is also scale sensitive and it is not final.

                            Thank you,
