  • First Post - Condo Development

    It's nice to be finally contributing to the forum. There is some amazing talent being displayed here, and I hope to continue to learn more from everyone.

    These are two of my latest images for a condo development with a marina on Lake Michigan. I'm currently working on an overall site render that includes 6 buildings total. I just wanted to introduce myself, and get a little feedback on these images.

    Vray Sun and Sky only, Vray Camera, xfrog trees and shrubs....

    Thanks.

    Looking great. Your trees seem to be overexposed (in the first image) and your shingles could use some more bump and color variance. I think I see tiling on your red siding.

      Looks quite nice!!

      The roof does need a little variation tho.. maybe some bump or dispalcement like powerandrubber said.

        Can you tell us what your settings were for the sun and camera? I think the image is great and with a few tweaks as mentioned above will be outstanding -

          Thanks for the comments. I've struggled a little on the roof and siding textures. I couldn't find a suitable bitmap, so they are both procedural. I need to develop a good bump/displacement for them, and ramp up the variation a little more. Any one have a good source for cedar shake shingle maps????

          My settings are pretty basic. This is my first project using the PhysicalCamera, and it works great. I struggled before with just lowering the sun's multiplier. This just get washed out, and the balance color/light was hard to control. Probably why they made the VrayCamera???

          Sun settings:
          Multiplier=1.0
          Turbidity=2.0
          Ozone=0.2

          Camera settings:
          f=9.5
          Shutter Speed=150
          ISO=100
          no vignetting

          Exponential color mapping 1,1,1. No gamma correction.

            Have a look at these for some roofing help

            As for the sun, yep the reason its at one is because thats more accurate for our own sun.
            Plus it works with the sun/sky/cam combo

                Thanks DaForce...those links helped a lot. I'll try and post a update.

                Eric...Funny about Scott. We actually went to high school together. He doesn't have anything to worry about. I'm only working on projects we design (for now )

                    Watch it there boys. I'm monitoring this conversation.

                    If you want to do other projects besides your in-house stuff you'll have to work for me or leave town.
