  • Finally....

First image post here....Just sent this one to the client and they were very happy with it, but I'd still like to see what everyone else thinks. The rugs were originally done with vray fur, but the render times for the final high-res (3k pixels wide) were going to take too long so I just comped them in PS.

They look great. I lighting is well done. Care to share your settings? Did you use Vray Sun and Camera?

My only comments would be in the kitchen area. The refrig looks out of scale. Compared to the door next to it and the counter height, it looks short. Also, the prep island looks a little too close to the back counter. It seems like a tight fit.

I really like the time you spend on the "extra" in the scene...books, plants, etc. It gives it a nice feel.

        Nicely done.

I'd add a slight bit of camera distortion (if you're using the physical camera) because the super-straight perspective lines look wierd around the edges of the picture.

Image needs a little posturization, door frame seems a bit flat

Far nicer an more styled - the contrast brings a lot more depth and realism into it in the sense that it's closer to the snotty architectural photos we're used to seeing - lovely work.

Thanks for the comments everyone. This was done on max 8 with vray 1.47.03. I haven't upgraded either max or vray yet...just seemly like it's never a good time to do it. So no sun/sky and no vray physical camera...just a direct light for the sun source and targets spots for the track lighting (no ies). Settings were nothing special:

                      AA: Adaptive subdivision 1/4
                      IR: Med 40/20
                      LC: 1500/0.02
                      QMC global sub: 2

Everything else was pretty much stock.

It's a shame about the rugs though, they looked really cool in the lower-res versions, but the rendering times at 3000x2000 were insane. Even when I tried them all by themselves to comp them in later...just too long.

Jim, I did a curve adjustment in PS and gave is a slight "S"...but not that much

The design was set so I couldn't change any of that. A previous version of this room did have the center bar further away from the other cabinetry, but they changed that toward the end. The ceilings in this space are 13' so that might be throwing the perception of scale off a little. Doors are 6'-10" and the frig is ~5'.

Very nice render. Although the doors look a little.. well flat as you said. The door handles seems to be painted on.

Great first image upload tho, and dont be a stranger.

                        hahaha the s-curve lives on

                              Nope - so do I...

In fact somewhere between the two would be perfect IMO.

                              Other than that, it's lovely!
