  • Condo Interior - Elegant Sports Penthouse

    Hi all,

Here is an interior of a condo penthouse suite. The client wanted a sports theme, yet elegant and refined. I just submitted this proof earlier today and I wanted feedback from the forum before we render to high res. I welcome your critique, harsh or nice.

    Here are some known issues:

    1. granite countertop needs a better texture map.
    2. champagne bottles on counter look very fake.
    3. dining rug - not sure what it is, but it looks weird. Maybe too flat and perfect?
    4. Those X-frog plants have gotta go. Any advice for better looking plants?

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Sports Theme

great work. I wish I could get some experience with interiors. One thing that stands out to me is the TV. Maybe add a little reflection.

i agree really well done. I LOL when I saw the huge bucket of champagne bottles. Maybe add something a little more elegant like 1 bottle and a couple glasses on a nice silver platter?

        - The lens for the camera is very wide and the focus is clearly the floating island, which I doubt is the main focus, you might experiment a bit more with angles.
        - add a bit (more) displacement to texture the rug under the table a bit.
        - The overall image color is very red, might experiment in post taking the reds down a bit and bringing up the yellows for a warmer feel.

Very nicely done. Looks great, just small comments.

looks nice but imo the kitchen desk could use some finer texture with less repetition

Looks great! A couple of things:

            1. Moondoggie said something about the "floating island" - well its got a "toe kick" under the cabinet side so that you can stand close to it without "kicking your toes" on the cabinets - so its modeled correctly.

            2. I don't know what makes this space a "sports theme" other than the football on the TV - and the champagne in the bucket - HA - more like a couple of 40's or a keg on there for the sports fan...

            3. I don't mind the plants - they do look a little "plastic" but if this is a "sports fan" that lives here - they probably would be fake...

            4. The granite countertop would probably look a little better with some glossiness to it and maybe a little reflections (not mirrored - but more like a foggy reflection..). And stretch the texture 2x in the x direction and leave the y direction the same - you will get more of a "striated" look to the granite which is more realistic..

Other than those piddly little things - its better than what I can do...

Actually, scratch that last comment about the reflections on the countertop - it looks right.. maybe the texture thing will make it a little better..

looks good to me. I kind of feel like a 7 ft tall pro basketballer though from that perspective so maybe that ties in with the sports theme? :P. Personally i would raise the target point slightly and lower the camera point in order to reduce the kind of downward perspective a bit. Alternatively, try the camera correction modifier

overall i think the image is a touch too dark considering the brightness of the outside area. It also looks slightly like the background is comprised of floating trees and no ground plane but it is hard to tell

I like the flooring but it looks a bit too perfect - maybe more woodgrain visible on each board would help or a bit of noise?. this could also be a factor of the resolution. Maybe give the LCD a bit of a black reflective look as well as someone else mentioned.

For the sports theme you could add banners or awards on walls as well or even some pictures of famous sports stars - in black and white or something. I notice there isnt much wall space to do this though.

nice effort. There really isnt anything to fault, just a bunch of opinions

                    Xfrog..just say no

If you want better plant life in your scenes try Bionatics. I use them all the time and get some good results with their 'Easynat' plug-in. You buy credits which you use to exchnage for plants in their 'nursery' which is pretty extensive.

great work. Is putting vray lights in the WINDOWS still the thing to do... OR is that just a background image?

my only comment is the light coming from underneath the doors.... i would think that there would be some type of threshold since they are exterior doors...

i think what happened is the floor stops right before the door edge, i would at least move them past the door edge and close the gap.

Now that I look closer, you could have the thresholds there and they are just showing as a "light edge" because the threshold could be a light greay material... if thats the case I would make them darker.........

                        Nice work.
