    meanadam:
Suprises me, why.. with so little time on your hands (5 mins a week you say)... why you chose to waste it making that little gem of a post and effectively alienating yourself from the board.
Only having 5mins is also no excuse for your actions.

This is generally one of the most positive, helpfully, and support forums around, maybe you havnt spent enough time here to know that. I dont know. But in my whole entire time here, I have never quite seen a post as rude and uncalled for as yours.

oh and Eric, no kitten strangling please

I've given my fair share of advice, through a photoshop tweak, why this escalated in such an argument, is astonishing.

LOL...I hold no ill will towards anyone.....And as far as the model....Well..I honestly didnt think it was all THAT BAD....But I do agree... Morbid your right....I don't post everything....and Ohh...If I could turn back the clock.....I wouldn't have posted this one.....Maybe I would have kept those baseball cards from when I was 5 and I definetly would have bought some Yahoo stock back in the day....Oh...I perhaps would have rethought that decision about streaking the public pool when I was 15....BUT THAT"S IT....

Trust me....You have seen my better works and I shall continue to post good and bad.... Hey....my post count has gone up considerably this week....Thanx DaForce.....

And I would never strangle a kitten....If you know what I mean....

EricCamper: Do you mind me asking, what kind of classical training have you had ?

The reason I ask is that I myself used to snag the odd freelance gig way back when, and I my 3D images had a similar way about them as your do. After going taking an art fundamentals course at sheridan college (Canada) I noticed a HUGE difference in my work. Even reading up on some basic concepts like color theory, composition and design conepts would help you tons

Other than that keep up the good work and good luck.

Well..that is exactly my problem...NONE... I started out as the CAD guy like 15 years ago and BAM....kinda winged it all. Modeling is easy... Sometimes when you guys adjust the images to make them look better...I actually think they look oversaturated, etc..etc.. I really need to do just that, but of course...time... And plus I don't do enough of it to begin with anyway....I spend a lot of time refiguring out settings and etc. and then do 200 2D Site plan renderings and then finally another 3D. But I shall continue to learn.

                Thanx

yeah i was surprised so many people missed the point of the original post which I think wasnt so much about crit on the work itself, but demonstrating how you can get follow-on work by being creative and a good salesman with clients.

I dont submit any work because i dont feel my work is good enough to submit mostly due to working on crap projects. I certainly dont think that your post was a waste of time and it provides an interesting comparison to see where we are all at. I dont expect to see award winning images in every thread because it isnt entirely about who has the best work but a forum for learning. If you think you know everything, then help others !!! (or piss off :P)

So basically, congrats on landing some more work and good job being a salesman. I think photomontages can help any project but when used well can make a terrible building look good - I honestly dont think yours was such a bad effort considering timeframe and what you have to work with

I'm wondering where all the old users meanadam mentions are going then if they are all leaving here?... or are people just being snobs and think they are too good for this forum now? :P

EDIT: oh yes, please keep posting average work...u need to see the bad to appreciate the good and although all the best artists here have been through this process, the rest of us may have not. Lastly, if you only have 5 mins a week to come on here then you have extremely poor time management skills or else you need to upgrade your 5min/week internet access

Your work was obviously effective in it's purpose, and that is what pays the bills

I also have very little formal training in 3D or art. Self-trained and forum-trained

I think that this critic must be the strong energy or defiance to make better and better renderings...
One of the bigest reason why I send my Images is to recive critics that have good improvement on quality to do ever more better...keep going!
