Seems like i got some more spare times
So these are some re-renderings from a previous finished project. Changed the lighting, material, angles more to my liking.

    Both images use vraysun/sky.

Tell me what you think, and some critiques please.... thanks!

    Cheers,
    Harry

spectacular job! The roof stuff is a little flat though. maybe some variation in color and specular.

        Thanks!

I use vrayfur for the roof. Is there any way to add a slight different color/tone to each vrayfur strand?

for me everything looks great, just the coconut leaf. i would do a variation of colours on that one. the rest , two thumbs up.

I love the first one! I think vray fur takes on material and uvw from it's source object so you should be able to apply variation that way. Procedural noise or something might be easier.

              very nice.
only one crit from me - have you used a sharpening filter for the AA?
You've got some high range value pixels on the water at the pool edge which are white with black rings around them - try using the Quadratic filter and see if that helps.

Great Work......THe roof looks awesome I think...But one thing jumps out....The infinity edge water......I think it would probably run off pretty even and the way you have it...it looks like icicles hanging off a little....

                Keep it coming

interesting design...take off the thatched roof and put on a Frank Lloyd Wright roof and you almost have a Frank Lloyd Wright House.

Thank you again for the replies!

sv, yes I use catmull-rom, thanks for pointing that out... i didn't notice previously.

dominique, the coconut trees are onyx... I've been looking for someway to add color variation for the leaves (actually, for every onyx trees i have), but still can't find a quick way to do that other than manually selecting each leaf and assigning different mtl... or do i miss something? This one may really help me in the future

as about the design, it's not mine... I think it's some kind of a mix of modern-traditional

                    cheers

try falloff map, it does help in some ways. not really perfect, but it does help. and since the leaf is made of single flat face, you can apply also the 2 sided material, it helps me in some cases.

                        I'll try that, Dom. Thanks

Is there any script that can randomly select object elements? For example, I have a tree object with 5000 leaves... now i want to randomly select 1000 of them...
                        anyway i can do that?

i don't really know about that, but i guessed you are using onyx right? onyx can do this. afaik, onyx is capable of randomly applying several IDs to the tree's canopy (the leaves). like they have this color green to yellow, green leaf and yellow has different material id. and sometimes in between green and yellow , so 3 ids.

here's example. (ofcourse my material suck big time, but that's not the point ) just to show different color
