The architecture in the before shot is indeed much better, i mean, it goes well with the overall boring utilitarian american thing. But hey, it's not my thing to judge i had a job, which i've done the best I can.
I had a little bit of a problem with the perspective, i was able to match it roughly after only a few tweaks, but then the fine tuning was impossible. I really wish that max had an option to fix certain points in the perspective, and then move around those.
you can do that - if you join a dummy to lets say a corner on the model you wish to remain static, then link your camera to that dummy. you can then rotate the camera around the dummy, which means that corner will remain in a fixed position!

But what if i want to fix two points, thus defining an axis around which i want to move my camera?
hhmmm, now i'm only guessing, but could you not put a second dummy on a second corner, and draw a spline or something inbetween?
Perhaps a tape, and then a third dummy in the centre of this, and rotate around the local normal of this?
really good job, but I would be more impressed if you said that the top image
was your job.
As for the perspective match, there is a chance that it will never be 100% correct coming straight from MAX, I usually need to make it 'fit' in a little software called Photoshop
