I agree with the window comments, reflections will add a lot to the image. You could also create a bit of depth to the building by adding very simple rooms behind the windows (just a box with flipped normals and a white material) and maybe PS in some curtains or blinds.
Tammo, the idea of the image uploads section of this forum is so other artists can comment on your image be it a final render or a work in progress. Whatever comments come back from others on this image Sawyer can take away and incorporate into future works, thus helping him to improve. Voila.
Thanks for the reply guys. I was really talked down to a low price on this and didn't end up modeling the interiors. I will redo the car and probably the sky it bugged me to begin with but the client liked it.
edit - you know the glass has really bugged me I may redo that.
hmm... I would avoid lowering quality for lower price. Nothing good comes from it ... you can't put your rendering in your portfolio 'cause it's below your standard quality, and worse of all, you'll love your job less

Yup I know I went back after I said that and made changes. I really didn't like how it sounded *sigh*
personally i think that the clients lowest cost possible approach is visible in the design. It looks like they have cut corners and costs from the start and through no fault of yours, it is visible in the images. I think even if you had a lot of time to spend making these images better, it still isnt going to be a nice project.
I think as people have mentioned in other threads, you have to stand your ground sometimes against clients regarding timeframes. If you really need the work and dont have better clients then you dont have a choice, but stick at it and eventually you will get the good clients that enable you to be more selective so that if you lose this kind of job then it doesnt really matter.
So i honestly think you have done well with what you have been given but things you have mentioned such as a the car size, glass and slight flourescant look of the image are all minor things to improve
Lastly though, some really good artists out there may be able to take on a job like this and make it look excellent... I think its a good goal to aim to make any job look great, but It is much easier with great clients!
Yeah you know I wanted to do a night scene but I was counting the hours and nothing was set when I started. Everything was from a sketch so much of the time I spent was "Like this or this?" But I have worked with this client a few times and they are really um... money tight...
Client seems to overjoyed which is nice but most of the time I had was interpreting the one sketch I had (one elevation not the other).
Anyway have adjusted the issues I could and I am re-rendering now.
That is an awful building! Seriously, a design like that cannot be put down to cost cutting. Good design can be achieved on a budget. This scheme is bloody awful!
AQs far as improving the image, I would reduce the colour pallette somewhat - there are just too many bold colours going on. I think desaturating the materials would be a good start.
Try 'framing' the image with overhanging branches etc.
It is difficult to see where the sun is - more contrast is needed - put one facade in shadow and the other in strong light.
Glass is pretty bad - you shouldn't see sky reflected at ground level (unless it is on top of a hill of course!).
Rip out that sky, go outside, take a photo and put that in instead.
Apologies, but I spent about 5 minutes in photoshop touching it up. IMO, the colors were just to saturated and because of the busyness of the building I though a clear sky was best so I just used a quick gradient. Yeah, the design isn't that great but the final image makes it look a bit too cartoony. I've included the photoshop file if anyones interested.
