Here's a quick school I did that is about to go out to the client but I thought I'd run it past you guys for a once over before sending it to them. I think it looks good but it seems like there's something lacking to give it a little 'punch'. Vray Sun&Sky/Camera, LWF + PS tweaks. C&C away...

I've blurred the school name for privacy sake and although I'm not 100% happy with the school bus it's what I had and it looks OK. The grey rectangle at the right hand side of the roof is the backside of a roof monitor and it's really all you see of it. I discussed it with the client and they OK witht the featureless grey box since it's more or less how it would look from this angle. The camera angle was also pretty much dictated by the client.

Seems to me there shoud be a shadow cast on the brickwork from that yellow canopy on the right.............or am I seeing things?

And the woman in the middle shoud be in shadow I think.

The canopy is out in front of the brick by several feet and with the sun angle I have the shadow only makes it onto the bushes. We can't really change the sun angle because we wanted to keep the entrance in shade and get the grated areas to cast a nice shadow on the face of the building. The woman is in shadow but I think the material on here was too "white"-I'll knock her down a little in photoshop.

              School

Very nice. Is it all CG or are you using site photos for things like pavement. The bus looks nice... almost looks real.

It looks really good. I would just cheat the tree shadow a little more out into the parking lot to cover more asphalt. The bus, I would get rid of completely, unless the client really wants it. If you keep the bus, the tire looks too black and there could be some reflections of trees in the bus windows to make it more layered and less transparent. A photo of a bus might work better. Just head out with your camera and watch the parents get really nervous, j/k. Don't do that because I don't want to see you on the WGN news.

                  nice shot,
Should the brickwork on the lhs (dark brown- presuming that it is brick) be a little bit sharper? I too really like the grass paving and road, - its flawless

Thanks for everyones comments. Always appreciated.

Bobby: Everything is CG. The pavement is setup with two tiling textures of a basic road texture with one made darker and offset from the other a bit. These are put into a mix map with a custom painted texture to control the light/dark areas and has a grunge layer and some dark fringing at the gutters.

Aaron: They do want the bus since it relates to the color and use of the canopy. I've already cheated the size of it a little bit as it gets a little exagerated because of the perspective. You're right about the refelections and blackness though. I too don't want to end up on WGN News at 9 .

Tom: The brick is a lot sharper in the high res version(4000x2000). Thanks.

The road and pavement are fantastic. Rest of the image is great as well

The road texture is it a custom jobbie or from a collection?

                        Great work. Really nice.

Yes.....Excellent work...I too am getting ready to start a school. The bus is the only thing lacking in the scene...Maybe showing less of it with a small blur...Like it was screaching to a halt. Or some lovely soccer moms...

crop the image just where the bus is.... and you get a perfect image

the bus needs a better shader, maybe add vraydirt? it looks too plastic & clean
