Thanks for replies. Very cool feeling when you get good feedback like that.

The details took a fair while. The rose and leaf moulds took a long time. The roses still dont look great in my opinion, could do with more detail...but more computer is already having problems with this scene so I had to be careful with too much detail.

My website will soon host a tutorial about how to create the moulds and ceiling details.

If you bookmark www.stevesideas.net and check the files/tutorials section (website still being updated at the moment, but will be uploaded within a couple of days).

Im currently updating the flooring, trying to give it a more rugged/aged feel. I agree, it does look to perfect.

The glow effect was created from rendering a seperate pass with a volume light through the window..a bit of noise to create a dust like effect and then composited in photoshop over the original image. I would have liked to do the volume light all in 3dsmax and vray but I seem to have problems when working with volume lights and the physical camera.

Will upload some more images soon....thanks again for the comments
    Regards

Here is the final image. Ive tweaked the colours very slightly in photoshop..hopefully you think the floor looks better...used a different texture for it. Created some imperfections and adjusted the positions of the floorboards.

I still like the camera distortion, but I toned it right down...yeah it did look like a bedroom cam....and no, im not a perv...well, not in that way

Anyway, hope you like the final image..comments welcome

        Updated with new image (06_09_07)

The final image looks really nice. However I think the floor board gaps are much to big.

You could loose your keys down there

                Woaw..
To say something...i find your last image a very little burned (ceiling near window) but i think it what you exactly want.
Excellent rendering, very realistic, warm and cool ambiance... perfect!

I still think everything looks pretty perfect BUT THE FLOOR....

I think its almost worse now... The nail heads look like they would kill your toes if you werent wearing those shoes....

Is your flooring actually like that? Looks more like flooring for a deck in the backyard....

I would try more of a distressed wood floor or some type of wood laminate flooring.

Part of the problem with the floor is the non staggering of the planks..... it just wouldnt look like that.

ps. thanks for the updates... great work!

                      Thanks for the nice comments.

To tell you the truth, the flooring in the real bedroom was in pretty bad shape, I think maybe Ive over done the displacement on those holes..but I need to move onto new projects..this one has taken wayy too long
