    hi there

here is a little scene i'm working on.
well i think it's quite final, has some glitches here and there, but i'm satisfied with the result.
what do you think of it?

    have a nice weekend
    ale

here is a little addition. i know it's a bit blown out, but i like it that way.

    mmm

it's pretty cool, but definatelly lacks caustics for a believable result

At first I thought it was a photograph. Nice work!

Maybe you should add screws in the woodwork (unless they're glued together )

impressive. but yeah, needs caustics. the steps look odd too, maybe too many of them.

and watch your highlights, they're starting to get blown out. ie, the lounge chair and along the pool edge above water line.

Ask DaForce for the caustics setup, he is a Dr. of caustics...

                      thanks for your feedback.
yeah caustics surely would add realism.
so DaForce, got some time to explain this caustic-thingy?
                      i appreciate your help!

                      thanks
                      ale

                        hahaha

well for a start do a search for caustics with me in the autho field. you should be able to get plenty of good info from a bunch of threads I replied in.

But basically you want a direct light aligned with the sun, with the diffuse and specular unticked in the advanced effects in the light rollout.
Then you only want the direct light to be part of the caustics sollution so for all the light you need to get the vrayproperties on them and untick the caustics check box.
That way only the direct light is used and it will be more accurate an faster due to more efficient use of the caustics subdivs.

                          which method for GI calculation?
any method as long as reflective caustics is on?

Yeah any GI method will do just fine when your using photon caustics.
You dont need to have reflective GI ticked either.

AHh good you found the file. That shall make things abit easier for you.

If you have any questions please do post
