  • Animaton - Promotional film

    www.focusgrupa.com/AMS_final.wmv

    This was made few months ago and purpose was to promote an invention to potential buyers.

    Now, when some time passed from presenting it to the client i can see flaws and much room for potential improvement however, your suggestions are more than welcome, since at this moment i'm in production of another animation...

    pretty darned cool. did you use the new animation system for irradiance map?

      Thnx DaElf... No, actually this was made using 1.5 RC1 if i remember correctly.

      We used single frame engine with high IR settings. There is visible flickering on some details of course, but nothing that would spoil the story.

      We had a lot of discussion of how to calculate this but - brute force was way too slow and composite seemed too tricky if you consider enviroment reflections on the car.

      Sure - this new IR model would now come in handy

        i think it would look a lot better with motionblur.
        Reflect, repent and reboot.
        Order shall return.

          IMO the new IR option is great, but slows things down to the extreme. Did a shot yesterday with a hand, fairly simple - 160 frames. With animation settings and the prepass already made, frametime was ~8 minutes.

          Changed it to single frame - frametime 20 seconds! - almost no flickering if any.

          But the idea is really good... just doesn't work for me with those frametimes.

                  that doesnt seem to make sence at all. calculating irradiance map and rendering a frame when set to single frame took you 20 seconds yet using the animation calculation method took 8 minutes? strange.

                    Maybe your problem too is related to that VRay multiplies the interpolation sample amount by the number of interpolated frames in animation mode.

                    See here: Animated IMAP takes up to 10x longer...

                    Anyway, nicely done! The intro is really impressive, camera motion is great. Gets a little slow and boring in the end though. A couple of fast shots at the end would help a lot, imo.

                    best regards,

                    A.

                      thanks for comments...

                      @tammo
                      unfortunatelly, deadline said "no" to motoinblur but i'm aware that that would contribute a lot to realism...

                      @t3dm
                      this is a new koncept of levita-car so no need for wheels to turn yeah i know... that was separate pass for composite but it was lost somewhere in the final madness of production...

                      @aldaryn
                      that is due to fact that there was meant to be voiceover and that is why middle part has such long pauses between animation. At the end client decided to skip voiceover which left us with finished too long sequences. But yes - that made the animation a little watery at the end...
