  • Skyline Tower Munich (Animation)

    Hi there,

    We did this animation last summer.
    My part were the outdoor/Helicopter Sequences.
    The Tracking was made with MatchmoverPro SD.
    The most fun part of this project was the helicopter flight...of course
    We worked together with "Heliteam Sued"
    http://www.heliteam.com/
    In the next edition of the "Digital Production" there will be a "making of" article.

    This is only the 3D part of the film, without sound.

      Wow, really nice! Tell me, when doing such a large camera tracking like this, how do you do? Do you use plans for the city to calculate distance/relations, or do you have to walk around and create some kind of tracking points on the ground before the helicopter flight? Both the rendered part and the camera tracking looks sweet.

        @DaForce

        These are two images. with and without 3D

        @SvantePanter

        For the Auto Tracking made by Matchmover we didn´t need special tracking points.
        We had blueprints of the area wich were used determine the outlines of the area that needed to be modeled. This was the first time i had to deal with Matchmoving . And i had
        no idea how it would turn out. The footage was actually the best one can imagine. No
        motion blur/fast camera movements, no jittering, no object in between.
        The tracking and camera import to max was actually rather easy. The tricky part was
        to correctly position and scale the imported camera in my scene cause it´s not
        automatically perfectly aligned to the ground. You have auto tracking points exported with the camera from Matchmover to roughly estimate the alignment. But it was quite some work
        until it was perfect. After some time you get a feeling what needs to be corrected if there
        is a wrong movement of the 3D Scene relative to the Background footage. If anyone has
        some tips how to optimze this process.. I would appreciate that !!

        cheers,

        sam

          wow - that' mightily impressively.
          i love the pace of your shots - both in the helicopter and on the ground.

          beautiful animation - well done.

            nice work. i like the creative aspects of it such as the pan shot looking up the facade of the building which ties into the text at the end of the animation - its a bit extreme and unexpected but gives a nice contrast with the 'normal' sections of animation
