  • Playing with MadCar

    Hello,

I came across this fantastic free plugin "MadCar"
    http://www.karba.eol3d.com/Plugins/MadCar/
Anyone who had to animate a car without any special plugin
knows what a pain it is !!

    My first test.

Well I think that's a pretty successful test - looks a wee bit slidy, but then again your surface looks as though it is

I saw that madcar thing on evermotion and there seemed to be a lot of comments of people having trouble so you've done pretty well.

I'd like to see something like this done execpt on a dusty surface with partilces coming up from the wheels.

Well one problem that i'd see is that it seems to have 3 states only for steering. Centered, Full Left and Full Right...and you must be a beast of a man in order to turn the wheel that fast :P

      Kind Regards,
      Thorsten

You´re right about the steering. I used the interactive mode with keyboard input. In this case
You only have three states (well there is a time delay parameter.. haven´t played with that one yet.. maybe that solves the behaviour). When I use the mouse input, the steering is absolutely smooth. I´ll make some tests with a gamepad the next days.I have not yet run into any bigger problems with this plugin. There are just
some steps that need to be taken in order to make it work correctly. But it´s explained in detail in the manual. I really like the concept and the easy setup !!

        cheers,

i have done several animations with this plugin, its great.
setup is really easy and you can drive around in realtime.
we bought a steering wheel with gaspedal, that works perfectly.

maybe i can show the animations i will ask the client.
            Reflect, repent and reboot.
            Order shall return.

Madcar is impressive, when it came out i played with it for the whole weekend
the nice part about it is if you screw up a corner, you can just rewind a bit and try again.
