  • window glas_need more reflection

hi, i am doing an interior, and again face the problem, that i don`t have the knowledge how to make a fitting glass for the windows.
1.) i want to see stronger reflections in the glass, that the glass gets realiced to be there.
2.) when i render the scene without the glassobject, the scene gets brighter. how can i make it to see the glass in the rendering, and make the glass not to affect the brightness of the interior?

    scene with glass

    scene with glass object hidden

as long as reflections go, I'd say what you get is to be expected with such a bright exterior. if you had something less bright out there, reflections should become much more visible against it.
you can try increasing the fresnel ior though, that should help.
by the way, using a falloff map as you're doing it's just redundant, you can simply set the reflect colour to white as you did and check fresnel reflections. no point in using a fresnel falloff in this case.

for the overall brightness of the scene I'd just check the glass objects invisible to gi, and make them not cast and receive any shadow.

For the reflection in the glass, take the falloff map out and set it to full white then check the 'fresnel reflections' box and the 'L' box next to it.

That 1.6 just under it will become editable then, try putting it around 2-2.5 and see how that looks.

        thanks for your replies,
uncheck "visible to gi" and "cast-" + "receive shadows" works perfect to prevent the glass from darkening the interior.

i tried your advices for the glass, but indeed the background was to bright to see an enhancement. therefore i made a high wall in front of the window, and used the vray reflection render element of this rendering with overlay "screen" in ps on the rendering without the wall, to get more visible reflectios. works for my just fine.

rendering with wall in front of the window

post with vray refl render element as "screen" overlay in ps.

post with vray refl render element as "screen" overlay in ps - incl. sky

Also, in the falloff, set the Front: color (black) to be more toward middle gray. Sometimes you just want to force more reflection. Sometimes it is good to step away from what looks "real" and step into what looks good.

id suggest trying what cubiclegangster said above instead of fresnel as well.

Also i think your outside light is overpowering things so in this case you arnt going to see much reflection unless you make the glass less transparent. You can select the glass object and change the properties so that it doesn't cast shadows if you want to get more light inside.

thanks for the tips paulison, indeed the changes in the glas material(white color for reflection, no falloff, fresnel ior 2,5..)didn`t make any effect on the reflectionintensity as the bakground was much too bright. therefore i decided to make a rendering with a "darker" background - that one withe the wall in front of the glasfacade. i used only the vrayreflection render element of this rendering an layed it over the original one in ps with "screen".
