depending where you want to go they look very good. If you want photorealistic looking I think they are too saturated(maybe is my monitor)....I'd use bitmaps for the trees(background) they have CG look....I'd do something like this for the background http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...ad.php?t=42440

      Saturation

I agree them looking to saturated. The trees are modeled because I wanted the front view (garage side) to have the shadows so I was killing to birds with one stone I guess. Easy enough tweaks I suppose so I'll work on it.

if you want the shadows you can get them with cutoutds, I'm using some treelines to get that effect as well as reflections...they work very well http://ambientlight.co.uk/index.php?...321&Itemid=271

            Cutouts

I have tried that, but it hasn't been successful. Do you do anything special with the plane you are mapping to? Are you excluding from GI or anything? I might revisit the idea. The maps I use are free-bees from the Internet so maybe I'll look into the library you linked.

they work for me...I use planes and extruded arches, someones are not visible from the cameras because they are right in front( only for shadows and relections)...in my opinion the library es pretty good and unexpensive.

I think the light(intensity and direction) on the trees don't match yours

You are probably correct. The photo, which you can't change, I guess dictates your scene. I think it looks better though

It looks better but there does seem to be something that is catching my eye. Maybe its the light direction on the bg trees or there might be a perspective shift with one of the trees. I think you should look into it because the level of detail on your building is worth the follow through.

I think the problem is that the lighting on the building is different from the trees and it's also different than the sky. The three of these are competing and creates on odd ambiance.

Nice job on the landscape though.

I think it looks better too. I like the filtered ones also - nice NPR look for those.

I had a hard time even understanding were the sun is . I did the quick cut/paste in PS. I'll have to open the model and see where I put the sun. It looks to be top left, which is how I have my sky. I think the trees are what is off. I'll scan my library and see if I can find a better tree line.
